Thrift (Dipsacus fullonum)

Thrift (Armeria maritima) A familiar seaside perennial with neat clumps of evergreen leaves and numerous pink pom-pom flowers from spring to autumn. Sow in spring or autumn, soaking seed overnight first in warm water. Sow on surface of most compost and cover very lightly with sand or grit. Leave outside and transplant seedlings into 8cm pots before planting out in autumn. Loves a sunny spot with well drained soil in a trough, rockery or front of border.
