Our 2017 members' day will be held in the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire and will have a wonderful woodland theme. It is one of England’s few remaining ancient forests and covers 27,000 acres of woodland with an estimated 20 million trees. We will be exploring the woodland, including Speech House Oaks SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), looking at some of the ancient and veteran trees of the forest and hearing about the schemes to enhance biodiversity and help manage eco-systems.
There will be a series of talks in the morning, held at Forest Hills Golf Club in Coleford. Our speakers on the day will be:
Prof. David Hill CBE, Plantlife Chairman and owner/founder of The Environment Bank Ltd which he established to promote investment into nature and natural capital. He is also a founding member of Natural England and its Deputy Chair since 2011, and a board member of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC).
